Naturalization and Citizenship

Individuals who wish to have the same rights as a U.S. citizen and possess a green card, and who have resided in the country for at least 5 continuous years, may initiate a naturalization process in the United States. Other alternatives to obtain citizenship include: being born in the United States, being the child of a U.S. citizen, or having served in the military for at least one year.
